Back to Overview Page

1 Initial Problem

By now (version 5.1), there is little benefit of the ILIAS competence management from the perspective of superiors or HR.

2 Conceptual Summary

Searching Users by Competences (Main Feature)

"Introduction of 'Staff' page" views, in case they are introduced in ILIAS, should also provide a way to search for users fulfilling a specific level of a specific competence.
To realize this, "Introduction of 'Staff' page" should offer an additional view "Competence Level Search" offering a workflow in which …:

  1. An empty table appears, offering an "Add Search Criteria" button.
  2. Clicking it, a competence can be selected from a drop-down list of published competences.
  3. Checkboxes are offered for each level of the selected competence. The selection can be submitted by an "Add Search Criteria" button.
  4. A table appears, showing the search criteria added by now. The process can be started again, in order to add more criteria. Below the table, there is a "Search" button.
  5. Clicking it, a table appears, showing those subordinates fitting to the search criteria.

Search for Competence Profile Fulfilment (Additional Proposal)

Another, or additional workflow could be a search for competence profile fulfilment, with a similar proceeding in the "Add Search Criteria" dialogue:

  1. Clicking "Add Search Criteria", there is an option first whether to search for competence levels or competence profiles.
  2. A competence profile can be selected from a drop-down list of profiles.
  3. The competences (level)s of the competence profile are displayed, where all competenced are featuring a (selected) checkbox. Checkbox can be unselected to exclude single competence (level)s from the search criteria. Below, there is a "Search" button.
  4. A table appears, showing the search criteria added by now.
The process can be started again, in order to add more criteria.
Below the table, there is a "Search" button.
  5. Clicking it, a table appears, showing the staff members assigned to the profile and fitting to the search criteria.
