Migrate built-in Group Types to Didactical Templates

1 Requirements

The built-in group types "Open Group" and "Closed Group" should be migrated to Object Templates.
The following feature will be implemented:

• Update of object templates: it will be possible to update the definition of an object template using the standard xml import.
• Local object templates: the usage of object templates can be restricted to subareas in the repository. It will possible to configure multiple repository nodes for every Object Template.
• Multilingualism for Object Templates: different translations can be configured for object templates. The will be implemented, using the standard translation service.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], August 01, 2016: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule it for 5.2.

• We would like to have
  • the 'open group' role template as 'default' (similar to the course) and the 'closed group' as 'first didactic template' for groups which comes out of the box.
  • the option to restrict the use of a local didactic template for a selected repository node as 'exclusive' template (esp. to support the idea of 'student groups' within the concept of learning communities)
• We still need to decide what happens if a category (or a course) with an exclusive didactic template is moved as sub-category in another category that already has an exclusive didactic group template. Stefan will make a proposal at the next Jour Fixe.

4 Implementation

The Standard Group in ILIAS is now what was up to 5.1 the "Public Group".  The "Closed Group" became an automatically generated Didactic Template. 

You may now add other Group Templates besides "Standard" and "Closed", which is very powerful. The Didactic Templates are multilingual. 

In your Group you can switch Didactic Template either in the Settings-tab or in the Permission-tab.
