Change Permission to insert an object from MediaPool to the ILIAS Page Editor

1 Requirements

Actual, if you want to use a media object (or content snippet) from a Media Pool into the Editor from the Learning Modul or from a page, you need the Permission "Edit" on the media pool. If you have the rights "View" and "Read", you can see it in the list, but you can't use the media objects from the Media Pool.

In the Administration of Media Objects/Pool, there is a setting:
"User Content Snippets" -> "Allows to create content snippets in media pools. These snippets can be re-used (not edited) in learning modules."

The problem is: To use, this snippets, you need the Right "Edit" in the Media Pool.

This setting would be great, if you can set a Media Pool with the rights "View" and "Read", so you can use all this contents (Pictures, Video, Content Snippets,...) from the Media Pool in the ILIAS Page Editor without the possibility to edit them.

3 Discussion

Killing, Alexander [alex], 4 May 2016: I think it is definitely worth to put some thoughts into this. We may also discuss, if a new permission makes sense here. Since "read" and "re-use" are seperate things. We could also discuss, that changes of media objects that reside in pools could/should be avoidable in learning modules.
