Administrators can access My Workspace

1 Requirements

As of ILIAS 5.1 Administrators can only set a Disk Quota to regulate the mount of data stored in "My Workspace", yet they can not view the data contained in an individual Workspace.

• In the User Management in the general Administration administrators get a link to a user's personal Workspace to be able to inspect it's ccontent. 
• In the Personal Desktop > Personal Workspace in the general Administration Administrators get the opportunity to view the amount of data contained in Workspaces and view the type of data to screen for indication of file sharing activities. 

Many organisations are not offering "My Workspace" because they cannot police it properly.

3 Discussion

 Kaiser, Sascha [skaiser] Die Funktion ist schon wichtig. Ich sehe aber auch immer die Bedenken seitens des Datenschutzes. My Workspace suggeriert namentlich, dass es sich auch um meinen eigenen Arbeitsbereich handelt und niemand nicht Zugelassenes dort Einsicht haben sollte. Aus diesem Grund muss entweder irgendwo der Hinweis auftauchen, dass Systemadmins das Recht haben den Persönlichen Arbeitsbereich einzusehen, oder es gibt soetwas wie eine Handshake-Funktion. Der Admin muss beim User (via System) anfragen, ob er die Daten einsehen darf. Der User seinerseits muss/kann dies mittels Bestätigung (zeitlich befristet) erlauben.
