Forum notifications with file attachments

1 Requirements

At present notifications of forum postings are not included file attachments. So users have to login to ILIAS (follow the link in notification) in order to download the attachment of notificated posting. It would be nice, if file attachments are forwarding with posting in common.

This feature should be possible for direct notifications. It should be possible for notifications per cron-job (asyncron) too except for deleted postings because file attachments of deleted postings will be deleted in file system too, an including is not possible.

Jansen, Michael [mjansen] 28 October 2015: As the responsible code maintainer I support this request in general. But we should keep in mind that each invidual recipient (in case it's Incoming mail option is set to only local or local and forwarding) gets an individual copy of each attachment.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], Nov 23, 2015: We appreciate this request in general but we require a general setting in the forum administration to enable this feature (disabled by default).

4 Implementation

For this feature we implemented a new setting in the Forum-Administration: "Send attachments with forum notifications".

In case this setting is enabled, all users who are registered for forum notifications will recieve uploaded files of forum postings as mail attachments.
