Newsitems for Blog

1 Requirements

New entries on a blog are noteworthy "events" and should be represented in the course / group / category news just as forum or wiki changes to be included in the daily mail.

Thus, the blog should create a news item, when:

• a new entry is published:
  • $$Entry Title$$ by $$User$$
  • "New Blog entry has been published"
  • Content:
    • first paragraph of Blog entry
    • Link to entry
• a published entry has been changed / updated
  • $$Entry Title$$ by $$Authorname$$
  • "Blog entry has been updated"
  • Content:
    • Changed by $$User$$
    • Link to entry

To avoid cluttering the news block when an existing post is edited intensively, a delay similar to the wikipage news / notification delay should be implemented.

Jour Fixe, October 12, 2015: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule it for 5.2.

Jour Fixe, Dec 21, 2015: Marko Glaubitz would highly appreciate if Newsitems for Blog will be implemented as a usability fix for 5.1. But we are short before publishing 5.1.0 and do not consider this missing function as a serious lack of usability. Both blog and course / group object are usable. The feature request is accepted and the feature will be available with 5.2.
