Backup / Restore / Update Assistant

1 Requirements

A great feature in PIWIK and OWNCLOUD is the assistant-based update routine. Even major updates are VERY easy.
As Admin i get noticed "there is an update available" - with a few clicks the whole system will be updated.

Mostly there are these steps:

• logout users, activate maintenance screen
• download and unzip
• copy
• update database (if needed)
• deactivate maintenance screen

Afaik installing updates in ilias are not so easy/comfortable as this.

Most Admins/small installations would get the updates faster and easier.
Big Installations with customizations are not that easy to handle, i think - but in general they are maintained by a provider or an it staff.

I want to suggest a feature like this - perhaps in combination with the already suggested feature Cloning a master-client.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], Jan 04, 2016: In general, we highly appreciate an easier update of ILIAS installations. But before scheduling this feature we need a technical concept for such an update process.
