Allow creation of widgets with HTML code in the blog sidebar

1 Requirements

For blogs that are used for more than mere learning documentation, having the option of adding self-made widgets would be very helpful.

Currently, it’s only possible to add tags, contributors and blog entries in the sidebar. All these three would count as widgets in Wordpress (for reference, see https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Widgets).

It would be great if users could create their own widgets beyond this. A basic "text" widget could allow to enter some sort of introduction to the blog, add a photo, but also paste more advanced HTML code. This HTML code could include a sign-up box for a newsletter (as needed for ILIAS.de), but also other things, such as a more representative link to the RSS feed (which currently only appears at the lower end of the sidebar).

Killing, Alexander [alex], 2 June 2015: Repository containers, esp. courses and categories would also benefit from such a block type.

Amstutz, Timon [amstutz], 5 June 2015: While generating layouts for the UI-Kitchen-Sink project, we also came across the problem of displaying meta information to object like containers, courses, categories etc.. We are currently working on a solution. We will present something in a UI-Kitchen-Sink workshop which has to be yet scheduled.
