Tinting examination screen

1 Requirements

During E-Exams, participants may be required to not switch away from the LMS. Doing so should be visible for invigilators.
At GML² 2015, a possible solution was shown: Tinting the exam systems screen, so invigilators see a dominating color on each students screen (in the case shown, a light yellow), which - most probably - changes, if another application is used. This allows for easy security in scenarios, where more advanced technical solutions like the SEB are not an option.

This feature proposes to:
- Introduce a new option "background color" on the test object, defaulting to "standard".
- Modifying the exam output to show the selected color wherever suitable.

This screen is from Blackboard Learn / Vista and used at Sauder School of Business.

3 Discussion

20.03.15 MB: I'll be able to provide a photo of this "at work" at short notice to further clarify the value of the feature.

BH 20 March 2015: Couldn't this effect be reached with the feature request Style for Tests?

MB 23 March 2015: You can achieve a similar effect using that feature, that's true. My idea is (Die Idee ist doch...) that you can simply roll a dice and change one isolated aspect of the test presentation in a simple way to get a good visual indication if participants of an exam are where they're supposed to be and not on wikipedia. In my understanding, (correct me if I'm wrong) Style for Tests is a tool to make tests more visually pleasing while the tinting serves another purpose that doesn't need a larger concept.

MB 8 April 2015: Added the screenshot provided by Mr. Rob Peregoodoff of Sauder School.
