Preselect only categories when copying a category branch

1 Requirements

In preparation of a new semester / year / cohort run ... ILIAS admins often want avoid having to create an entire branch of the repository tree from scratch. What they want to do, is make a copy of an existing subtree. In general it is highly unlikely that an ILIAS admin wants to make a copy of the courses, groups, ... that are situated somewhere in the structures of the sub tree, since she/he would be the owner of ALL of the copied objects and other users had to be added one by one.
 
The current behaviour of ILIAS preselects ALL object in a subtree and its children, which means that making a "skeleton" or "structure copy" is practically not possible if the subtree is larger than a handful of categories, because anything except categories would have to be disabled manually.

Proposition of new behaviour:

• I suggest that when a category is about to be copied,  exclusively categories are presected by default.
  • luxury version: make a new button when copying categories which reads "Select only categories"
• If all contents of the subtree is supposed to be copied there is still the button "select all".

3 Discussion

JF 30 Mar 2015: We prefer a filter (by type) on top of the copy option screen. The filter lists all repository object types (as checkboxes). If the filter is used only objects of the selected types are listed (and only if all types of the path to the top node are listed). The filter optiones are stored within the session. This way the feature can be implemented for 5.1.
