Availability in Action-Menue and Settings-Tab

1 Requirements

This issue is related to a discussion going on here: Online/Offline Guideline

The very same term 'Availability' is used for two different things in ILIAS:

• 'Availability' is used as a heading in the settings-tab of the course object to include the settings 'Online' and 'Limited Availability Period'. Please check the Action menu Guideline clearly stating that this entry is to be called 'Edit Timings'. Change the guidelines or the interface but marry them up nicely. I do not like Availability because the term s used in the settings tab. I cannot support 'Timings' because im means 'units of time' which is clearly not meant.
• 'Availability' is used in the 'Action'-menue offering the two functions of 'Timings' and 'Precondtions'

I find it disturbing that I can access settings of an object via the action menue, that I cannot set in the settings tab and vice versa.
 
'Precondtions'
If 'Precondtions' can be set via the Action-menue,  'Precondtions' should be configurable via the settings-tab as well, because it clearly is a setting.
The 'Precondtions' are a sub-tab / link in the course.
Other objects should also feature a 'Precondtions'-link in the 'Settings'-tab.
 
'Timings'
'Timings' comprises three options:

• Timings Disabled
• Temporarily Available
  • Start Time
  • Finish Time
  • Visibility

• Time Target Enabled
  • Suggested Start
  • Suggested End

The 'Timings' seems to map the 'Limited Availability Period' of those objects having one.

What can be set in the Action-Menue should be configurable in the Settings-tab.
 
 

If Availability is an entry of the Action-menue and comprises those little used features I want it to include the actual availability setting 'online' for all objects that can be set online.

2 Status

• Scheduled for: Not scheduled yet (will be set by Jour Fixe)
• Funding: Required / Interest in funding: (please indicate if you are interested to fund this feature)
• Maintainer: (will be set by Jour Fixe)
• Implementation of the feature is done by (company, developer)
• Contract settled: No | Fill in "Yes" if a contract is already settled and add Institution / Organisation in "Funding" row
  
• Tested by / status: (name, e-mail), (status information set after implementation)

4 Discussion

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 24 AUG 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
