Reactivation Empty Trash

1 Requirements

Because of  several bug-reportings concerning insecure or dangerous features in the system check (see: Disabling dysfunctional, dangerous or deprecated system check features) the possibility to empty the trash via administration has been disabled in 4.4.
 
We want it back – of course in a revisioned secure way.
Additionally to the normal task(s) we'd like to have the possibility to empty the mail-trash: Empty Mail Trash via System Check.
 
Specifics

• Deletes file and its entry in database
• Possibility of deleting according to the purge date
• Possibility of emptying the mail-trash: Empty Mail Trash via System Check
• It must be secure, without damaging the installation in some way

In Disabling dysfunctional, dangerous or deprecated system check features JF mentioned/promised a revision of the system check in ILIAS 5.0. If the big revision isn't ready, at least the emptying of the trash should be done as quick as possible, as a patch for 4.4.x.

• Scheduled for: Release 5.0 as bug fix, see Disabling dysfunctional, dangerous or deprecated system check features. Testing needed before decision for 4.4 patch is possible.

4 Discussion

JF 22 Dec 2014: We would support the reactivation of the "empty trash" feature, if the revised code for 5.0 has been tested and a port of the code to 4.4 is possible.

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], Feb 26, 2016: Global empty trash feature has been re-introduced with System Check Revision in 5.1.
