Manual Carousel / Slider Content Element for Page Editor

1 Initial Problem

In the course of a business training seminar a lot of pictures are taken: of flipcharts, of priority votes, a "family foto". Trainers want tp present them in the course content page and not in an object. Other teaching staff might want to present a "self-scrollable" gallery of mostly graphical content for students to brwose through manually.

The current implementation of the accordeaon and its carousel mode come close to solving this task when a ridicualouly long time is set for changing to the next panel, but there is no good visual marker that shows students how to switch from one "piece" in the gallery to the next. Many lecturers opt for H5P to serve this quite basic need.

2 Conceptual Summary

Seetings

  • the Accordion type "Carousel" is renamed to "Automated Animation Carausel"

User Presentation

  • the automated animation mode remains untouched in its presentation
  • in manual mode, arrows to navigate back and forth between panels are shown beneath or besides the panel content, in between the the arrrows a counter indicattes the number of the current panel and the total number of all panles in this accordion "[ < ]      2 / 10    [ > ]"

8 Discussion

CK 10.11.2014: I think that would be a good candidate for a plugin.

Matthias Kunkel, 19 Feb 2015: Thank you, Alexandra, for adding these requests. But I would really appreciate if you use one page for each feature and give each page a title that shows what the page is about. Thanks!

2023-05-31, Glaubitz, Marko [mglaubitz]: I have updated the existing feature request to meet the "new" format and I have taken the liberty to create mockups for the revised concept.

Seiler, Yvonne [yvseiler], 8 JAN 2024: There are several FR articles that have similar or identical concerns. I am linking them here so that they can be coordinated with each other if necessary: Page Editor » Carousel Revision / Pause Accordion Carousel / Manual Carousel / Slider Content Element for Page Editor / Page Editor » Accordion Presentation
