Change Copy Behaviour: Preserve Enables/Disabled State of Copied Objects

1 Requirements

Right now, when objects are all copied, all copies are set offline by default.

This can be nasty in some scenarios, for example when deep folder structures with learning contents (Wikis, LM, ...) are copied and possibly missed out in the required MANUAL activation. This behaviour produces frustatrion on the user side and additional work on the side of the course/group admins.

Thus, a change in this behaviour would be welcome, which differentiates between what kind of object is copied and preserves most online/offline states.

  • "Offline" by default for top node objects like courses and groups if they a located directly in the repository. This might be possibly a good objects for all objects that do not have a course / groupd container around them?!
  • Preserving the online/offline state for all subordinate objects in courses and groups, including groups in groups / courses.

4 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], August 31, 2015: We have discussed this issue a while ago due to a bug report (http://www.ilias.de/mantis/view.php?id=14153) and decided:

  • Content of a copied container keeps online/offline status.
  • The object itself is set offline (container or content object)

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 24 AUG 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
