Approve Permission

1 Requirements

In contrast to many other Learning (Content) Management Systems, ILIAS is not able to map approval processes in a proper way.
Thus, an author can build learning material and publish it at will. There is no way to restrict the act of publishing to another role or user because the "online" setting can be chosen by anyone who has "Edit Settings" permission (which is in most cases needed to design the object).

So, the easiest way to map approval processes was to introduce a separate "Approve" or "Publish" permission.
The "online" setting would be grayed for anyone lacking this permission.

Additional features could be:

  • Send request for approval to a user
  • Publish object via external and/or internal Actions menu
  • Bulk publish objects in the Repository

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 18 AUG 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
