UI: General Screen Layout

1 ILIAS 4.4

Most ILIAS 4.4 screens are based on three basic screen templates.

1.1 Startup Screen Template

This screen template is used for login, logout, user registration, "forgot password" and similar screens.

• Centered Box
• 750px width
• Common Header section, including logo and optional header title and language selection

1.2 Standard Screen Template

The standard template is used for most of the ILIAS screens.

• Full width, no border
• Header Section including loko, header title, login/logout/registration information, main menu, online help icon and search box, fixed if main content scrolls
• Locator (optional)
• Page Title including optional icon
• Page status and actions section (optional)
• Tabs and Subtabs (optional)
• Three column content area (left and right column optional), width defined in %
• Side Bar (optional), fixed if main content scrolls (separate scrolling section)
• Permanent link section (optional)
• Footer

1.3 Fixed Width Screen Template

This template is currently used for portfolios and blogs.

• Tiny header (back to ILIAS link and login information), full width
• Main content centered with max-width 880px

1.4 Other screen templates

• SCORM RTE
• ILIAS learning module presentation layouts (one, two, three window layout, ...)
• ...

2 Requirements

• The standard screen template should get a "max-width" limitation. The center column gets to wide on large screens which makes text hard to read. Maybe the standard and blog/portfolio templates can get the same behaviour again.

3 Status

• Scheduled for: Not scheduled yet (will be set by Jour Fixe)
• Funding: Required / Partly funded by / Funded by ... (please indicate if you have funding for feature)
• Maintainer: (will be set by Jour Fixe)
• Implementation of the feature is done by (company, developer)
• Contract settled: (fill in "Yes" if a contract is already settled, otherwise "No" )
