2 Bugfixing for maintained versions 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4

Last releases:

• ILIAS 4.4.2 published at March 26, 2014
• ILIAS 4.3.7 published at March 21, 2014
• ILIAS 4.2.9 published at September 04, 2013

• 4.4.3 is scheduled for 13 May 2014
• 4.3.8 is scheduled for June 2014
• 4.2.10 is scheduled for May 2014

We went through Mantis and had a overlook about all open issues reported or modified since the last Jour Fixe. All issues were screened and assigned to the responsible developers. We discussed in detail:

1. Mantis 12963: Language entry for wildcard [DATETIME_COMPLETED] in test certificates (German) gives wrong impression / Split Language Variables for Certificate Wildcard Descriptions : Jour Fixe asked the maintainer to make a detailed proposal in the feature wiki on how this issue could be fixed in a future major release.
2. Mantis 12681: Text in curly braces disappears, breaking LaTeX: Please try to use the parameters (2nd and 3rd) of the ilTemplate constructor. If this does not work, please try to use html entities. You can also make a suggestion to handle this problem in general and reschedule this report on the JF agenda.
3. Mantis 13285: Inaktivierungsdatum wird bei Speicherung des Userprofils erneut gesetzt : Please update this date only, if the state is set from active to inactive.
4. Mantis 12440: XML-Import Assignments: assignment isn't possible, still positive feedback: We ask studer+raimann ag to make a code proposal and send it as patch/diff to Stefan Meyer.
5. Online/Offline Guideline : We highly appreciate the clarification. Matthias and Alexander will read the guideline in detail and work out a proposal.

3 Feature Requests for ILIAS 4.5

3.1 ILIAS 4.5 Statistics
 

According to the presentation at the last Development Conference we want to improve the documentation of the development process. The data of the following overview of development activities for the next upcoming major release is taken from the page Release 5.0. All developers are requested to update the status of their features.

3.2 ILIAS 4.5 Development Issues

1. Mantis 13274 : optes: No test results >>presentation<< when set to "1 time" at "Maximale Anzahl von Testdurchläufen".: We prefer to always show the pass overview, even if only one pass is given.
2. Autocomplete in member search:
   • We understand the problem of the "more" link. We would propose a different behaviour: If "more" is clicked, the full result list is retrieved via ajax and displayed in the same overlay as the first list. We must ensure that the max height of the overlay is limited and a scrollbar appears.
   • The maximum number of entries should be related to the complete list, so it may be possible that only entries from the first category are displayed.
   • Since we seem only to have funding for the mail part, the last point mentioned by MJ above should affect the mail system only. In general we would need different data provider for this feature.

3.3 Feature Requests for 4.5

The following list contains features that have been added to the Feature Wiki before feature freeze and are supported by the responsible component maintainer, see also Feature Requests 5.0. Please do not add new features on this list.

1. RBAC: Get rid of role folders: We appreciate this improvement and schedule it for 4.5.
2. Test: Preset points input fields with 0 when createing new multiple choice questions: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
3. Test: Enter password again when continuing a test on different computer: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. Please use a session based storage for the information.
4. Test: Competence Service for Test: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. The threshold handling should be done similar to 360 survey. If random tests should be supported, please provide a proposal how the threshold handling could work.
5. Test: Competence Service for Question Pool: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. The competence assignment and the "competence points" should be regarded as "properties" of the question and be copied into tests, when pool questions are used. The general activation of the competence service and the threshold definitions are parts of the test definition.
6. Test: Question title output: add new option show only available points: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. Using checkboxes is preferred to. The question list should also respect these settings.
7. Test: Multiple Choice K/Kprim: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. the true/false terms should be implemented as a radio group including with the options listed in HJLs comment of 13.2.2014.
8. Test: Anonymized Manual Scoring: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5 with the following change: The existing anonymization setting is used to control this. There is no need for an additional setting.
9. Test: Improving Vertical Ordering Question's Look and Feel: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. In editing view the ordering/nesting/and setting of values should all be possible in the "answers" section. Nesting could be avtivated by a (JS) button. Input fields (text area or upload) can be presented within the draggable boxes. Additionally it would be nice, if picture/text use could be defined on the answer/option level. But this would be a nice-to-have for us.
10. Test: Display Questions's Workingtime in Question Tables: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5. Please make these columns "selectable" in the table views.
11. Repository: More Visual design for container objects: We appreciate this idea in general and schedule it for 4.5. BUT, further decision will only be made on the base of design mock-ups/proposals. We discussed that this feature should be available for multiple types, especially courses, categories, learning modules. Maybe for all types in the future. We think we could end up with two types of object list presentations (simple and extended), which would be activated per list block within a container.
12. Data Collection Set Link Title in URL-optioned textfields : We support this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
13. Data Collection Displaying of comments: We support this feature and schedule it for 4.5. The comment column should be a new "standard column" and get a column title for screenreaders. The current row should be highlighted, if a comment icon has been clicked.
14. Data Collection: Copy Datacollection with all Data Records: We support this feature and schedule it for 4.5. Copying in general should always copy all content, except user related data.
15. Data Collection - Easy Editing of Multiple Fields: We support this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
16. Data Collection: Extending Data Collection - 2: We are unsure which remaining requests are meant by Martin. Please create separate pages for each remaining feature requests and set them on the 4.5 request lists, chapter 1 : Reviewed and Recommended
17. Data Collection: Enhanced Permission Handling For DC Contributors: We still appreciate the "View only own entries" setting and schedule it for 4.5.
18. Learning Module SCORM / Learning Progress, Reporting and Statistics: Sending mails from Learning Progress of SCORM module: We agree with the maintainer's conclusion and will continue the discussion on the Sending Mails From Learning Progress feature wiki page.
19. Bibliography: Automatic Link Generation / Connection to Link Resolvers of University Libraries: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
20. Blog: Improving Use of Metadata in ILIAS Pages: As Jörg Lützenkirchen suggested, this feature wiki should be rewritten in a more general way that targets page header metadata and SEO issues. It should also contain a guideline suggestion how these values are set by default and if and how they can be overwritten by different components.
21. Org Units: Types for Organisational Units: We appreciate this feature (including the icons) and schedule it for 4.5.
22. Org Units: Custom Metadata for Organisational Units and Types of Organisational Units: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
23. Metadata: More Types for Advanced Metadata: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
24. Plugins: Claiming of Advanced Metadata: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
25. Plugins: Claiming of User Defined Fields: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.5.
