Improve Usability of My Workspace

1 Requirements

Sharing ressources is currently still a bit tideous, especially getting a list of ressources shared.

• The Screen header in the "Ressources of Other Users" tab is Shared Resources, it should be changed to "Ressources to which Others gave me access" or the like
• The filter "Shared With" is pointless and can just go. After its removal the filters will fit one line.
• The filter "Login / Name" should be re-labeld to "Shared by".
• The list should feature the approved contacts / user connections. This should be the default value of that filter, so there is something in the list to be displayed. Now it isalways empty.

• Scheduled for: Not scheduled yet (will be set by Jour Fixe)
• Funding: Required / Partly funded by / Funded by ... (please indicate if you have funding for feature)
• Maintainer: (will be set by Jour Fixe)

4 Discussion

JL, 10 Apr 2014: all these suggestions need to be discussed in the JF. The case for or against empty lists on 1st load is an ongoing discussion and naming issues should be solved in the JF as well.

SIG E-Portfolio, 23 Jan 2015: It will be difficult to find a "predefined filter setting" that shows already some content. We support the idea to show a hint (similar to the empty Personal Desktop) how to find content.

AntoniaWeber, 16.01.2016: We developed a patch for the filter in "My workspace" with some of the mentioned changes.

• we renamed the register to "Freigaben anderer Mitglieder"
• we deleted the filter "members of course/group"
• we changed the type of filter "shared with", edited the titles ("shared for me" ... "my groups") and the deleted the option "shared with www"
• we changed the type of filer for "type of resource"
• default = all shared ressources for me, sorted by date, newest shared resource first
•  filteroptions don't change after log-out etc.

AntonEdtmeier, 10 Feb 2016: I absolutely like the idea of setting the default filter like shown in your example, it would be great if at least this would find the way into the next release!
Our experience shows, that almost all users are confused and expect to see the entries when they open the "Resources of Other Users" flap!

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 02 SEP 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
