Explaining the Purpose of the Personal Profile

1 Initial Problem

Often times users do not fully understand what the Personal Profile can do for them. How being visible is an important first step to make e-learning less of lonely buisness.

2 Conceptual Summary

It would be helpful to have the option to write a few lines to users about the value the Profile adds in this particualr educational setting and how it is delat with in terms of privacy:

  • who can see it
  • what precautions are taken to protect privacy.
We want a section on top of the form that captures the data of the Personal Profile to dispaly this statement.

A link should be displayed to take people from the data entering screen to the screen where they can select what data they want to publish.

4 Technical Information

Killing, Alexander [alex], 24 Jan 2017: As far as I remember we made a decision about how properties that support translations should be handled in the future. I did not find the FW yet, but the basic idea was an extension of TextInputGUI/TextareaInputGUI that provides only the default / system or user language in the form directly. Other translations should be done by clicking a link "Other Translations" which opens a modal containing inputs for the other languages. Should/must this be used in this case? And could this be implemented using the existing form service?

Kiegel, Colin [kiegel] 2017-01-24: The SIG Language Support has this feature request about Multilingual Titles and Descriptions for All Object Types + Plugins. There we want to introduce an official UI component that handles multilingual input for single+multiline fields. This idea could be extended to formatted text as well. The JF workshop for this is currently scheduled for 2017-01-31, 10-12 CET Skype. Maybe you can reference that here.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], JAN 30, 2017: Highly appreciated and scheduled for 5.3. We would like to show the explanation text as info message (blue background) without formatting. We don't want the Tiny but re-use the existing form for multilingual category titles (according to Alexander's suggestion above).
