Specificities for offline SCORM modules in the Learning Progress

1 Requirements

When displaying the learning progress of a course, SCORM modules which have been downloaded by the user thanks to the offline player should be indicated. This is important because the learning progress information displayed in ILIAS may not reflect the real learning progress of the learner until tracking data has not been synchronized.

The date of download should also be indicated.

Finally, from this report, tutors and administrators should be able to contact learners who forgot to sync their learning progress or to send them a reminder.

3 Discussion

JL, 10 Apr 2014: for the LP part I support this request. Outdated LP data (it doesn't really matter why it may be out-of-sync) should be indicated. As for contacting the learners see Sending Mails From Learning Progress.

Uwe Kohnle: 26 May 2014: I support this request and recommend its implementation for 4.5.

JF 23 June 2014: We are unsure how this information should be presented on the generalized learning progress screens. A new type-dependent status (only applicable for SCORM) would conflict with the general learning progress approach, similar a new table column. What happens (should happen) with the status, when the user downloads the package? Does it switch to "In Progress"?

Would it be possible to tackle your requirement by adding a new overview to SCORM objects (or to extend the "Offline Use" screen), and not to extend the learning progress views?

We currently do not schedule this for 4.5.
