Moderators contributions highlighted by anonymized forum

1 Requirements

It should be possible to highlight moderators contributions by anonymized forum, too.

3 Discussion

Jansen, Michael [mjansen], 04 Apr 2014: I don't really understand the request, please add a more detailed specification.

Matthias Kunkel, 07 Apr 2014: It wasn't me who posted this suggestion. But I guess I know its intention because I had the same problem some time ago:

  • You want to offer a forum with setting "Posting with pseudonym" to force the communication in a course with cautious students
  • But you also want to give "authorised" answers to anonym posted questions. But this is only possible when the sender of this posting can be identified as a tutor or moderator.
IMHO the solution would be to exclude all moderators from the use of pseudonyms. If they are making a posting, their real name is shown and the posting is presented in the moderator layout. The required settings would be
  • Posting with pseudonym = enabled
  • Mark moderator posts = enabled
If "Mark moderator posts" is disabled, contributions made by tutors / moderators would be anonymised like now because there would be no clear distinction to "normal" postings (you cannot rely on the used name...).

P.S.: The two settings mentioned above should be close to each other and the description text of the "Mark..." setting has to adopt this changed behaviour.

Jansen, Michael [mjansen] 11 Apr 2014. I support this request.

JF 14 Apr 2014: We support the request and schedule it for 4.5.

This apparently didn’t make it into 5.0 (and probably not even 5.1). We would like to make a push for 5.2. Willing to fund. (Christian Bogen, Universität Stuttgart, 26.10.2015)

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], Nov 23, 2015: Highly appreciated and scheduled for 5.2.

4 Implementation

The settings Posting with pseudonym and Mark moderator posts are now close to each other. The description of the latter was changed according to the new behaviour.

The effect of the two settings above was implemented as described above: If both settings are enabled, ILIAS excludes all moderators from the use of pseudonyms. If Mark moderator posts is disabled, contributions made by tutors / moderators would be anonymised like now because there would be no clear distinction to "normal" postings (you cannot rely on the used name...).

4.1 Test Cases

Test cases completed 07 Jan 2016 by Ahmad, Nadia [nadia] :

  • C7439: Anonymisierte Moderatoren-Beiträge
  • C7440: Markieren von Moderatoren-Beiträgen in anonymisierten Foren

4.2 Approval

The implementation shall hereby be known as approved. ;-) —CB, 2016-02-16
