Improving Process Request Membership

1 Requirements

The current implementation of the registration mode "Request membership" is not as flexible as needed in daily business. In ILIAS 4.4 you can only

• Enable the feature
• Assign or reject users on the list
• Send them a mail

• Access to the additional course information data requested in the subscription form (this information is only visible when the user is already member)
• No link to the personal profile of the user to see who she or he is (this is important to know if you want to have this person as a member in your group or course)
• No possibility to make the request message a required input (currently user often do not add a message text so the admin has to send a mail first before deciding about the apply)
• No possibility to add a question in the registration form, e.g. "Why are you interested to join this course for ILIAS authors and what is your previous experience?"

Suggestions

The following features should be implemented to improve the request membership process in groups and courses:

• Offer possibility to add a customized question in the registration form (unformatted text is sufficient).
• Offer possibility to make "Message" (better "Request") a mandatory entry (need to be filled out).
• Show additional course specific information from reg form in list of users that apply for course (this should be available also in the waiting list!).
• Offer user name link in list of users to have a look at the personal profile of this user (if set public).
