1 Requirements

Facing the discussion in different feature requests we see the need to have a solution for a simple formatting text area. This is relevant especially for cases where learners edit text.

We see at least styles that need to be supported:

  • Bold text
  • Italic text
  • Understrike text
  • Bullet list

We do not want to support (for technical and usability reasons):

  • insert images
  • tables

Jour Fixe, 02 Sep 2013: We highly appreciate this request and schedule it for 4.5. We will continue to discuss and decide about the supported styles but highly recommend to keep this RTE simple.

Florian Fehring (FH-Bielefeld), 02 Sep 2013: I'am currently working on an solution for input mathematics. Therefore i exchanged the old tinyMCE with an TinyMCE Service. This looks right before render time if the page contains elements with (from database read) ids. And loads the depending TinyMCE configuration. It is also possible to configure an minimal tinymce with only a little subset of the functions, that displays its control elements only, if the element was clicked (see TinyMCE inline mode) . Couldn't it a solution?
