1 Requirements

1.1 Feature Description, JF 29 Apr 2013

  • Course and Groups should offer the possibility to show a "tag cloud" block.
  • The block contains a tag cloud of all tags that have been assigned to objects within the course/group (including all subobjects, no RBAC check done yet). Tags of other users are displayed, if the feature is activated in the administration.
  • If the user clicks on a tag, all objects that have been assigned to the tag are listed. At this point ILIAS checks the RBAC permissions, so empty lists may appear (with a message) if the user has no permission to access any of these objects. Additionally all objects list all their assigned tags.
  • The size of the tag is determined by the number of assignments. We currently reject the request that the size is determined by the number of user accesses to the objects, because the number of accesses is not comparable between different object types (a forum has always more accesses as file).
  • The request to be able to filter tags by "my tags/tags of other users", new tags and "popular" tags is too vague for us. We understand the "my tags/tags of other users" feature, but how would the "new tags" filter work? Would we need different options (last week, last month)?
  • The intergation of external thesauri would be an additional feature request. We would need a general interface to these kind of applications. Currently we are not aware of any standards here.
  • The general editing of tags for an object will stay as it is (tag icon/link in the header toolbar).

1.2 Feature Request by K. Koch

  • Tags sind allgemein, d.h. wenn das Tagging in der Administration aktiviert ist, darf jeder Nutzer Tags vergeben. Sie sind öffentlich, sofern der Nutzer gemäß RBAC (Rechtesystem) Zugriff auf das getaggte Objekt hat: Ihre Anzeige geschieht in Form einer Tag-Cloud, die auf die jeweiligen Objekte verlinkt.
  • Die Vergabe von Tags ist beschränkt auf Kurse und Gruppen. Ihre Anzeige geschieht auf der rechten oder linken Seite des Kurses/der Gruppe.
  • Es kann nur eine begrenzte Anzahl von Tags kurs- bzw. gruppenbezogen vergeben werden. In der aktuellen Installation liegt die Grenze bei insgesamt 99 Tags, die vergeben werden können.
  • Abhängig von der Vergabe (Anzahl) jeweiliger Tags bzw. der Häufigkeit der über Tags besuchten Objekte (Filtereinstellung) werden in der Tag-Cloud diese größer oder kleiner dargestellt. Die Nutzer können so ersehen, welche Begriffe besonders häufig vergeben wurden.
  • Related Tags werden angezeigt, d.h. bei Auswahl eines Tags werden die mit diesem Tag bei einem Objekt zusätzlich vergebenen Tags als related/ähnlich/verwandt angezeigt. Achtung: Damit ist aber nicht unbedingt eine semantische Ähnlichkeit bei den Begriffen gegeben.
  • Es soll möglich sein, die in einem Kurs/einer Gruppe vergebenen Tags gemäß Kriterien wie „aktuelle, häufig vergebene, meine eigenen Tags“ zu filtern.
  • Einzelne Tags werden durch Kommata getrennt, Leerzeichen erlauben die Eingabe zusammen- gesetzter Begriffe.
  • Eigene Tags werden auf dem Persönlichen Schreibtisch als Einstiegspunkte in die Plattform angezeigt.
  • Über die Integration von Open Thesaurus sollen bei der Eingabe von Tags oder aber der Suche nach Tags ähnliche Begriffe gefunden werden. Zudem soll der/die Nutzer/in nicht bereits vorhandene Begriffe zu dem Thesaurus hinzufügen können. Bei der Tag-Eingabe soll eine Autovervollständigung des Begriffes möglich sein.
  • Das Löschen eigener Tags in verschiedenen Objekten soll über eine Funktion „bearbeiten“ in dem Anzeigenfenster der Tag-Cloud vorgesehen werden. Aus der Tag-Cloud verschwindet der Begriff bei vollständiger Löschung aus den getaggten ILIAS-Objekten.

3 Discussion

JF 29 Apr 2013: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.4. However the title of this feature request currently includes topics (taxonomy/search) that are not mentioned anymore. If it stays it that way, we would like to rename the page to "Tag Cloud for Courses and Groups". We continue to discuss the concept details and the user interface.
