Credit Points

1 Requirements

In many organizations, credit points are an important (quantitative) means to plan and control training activities of employees, students, learners.
Currently ILIAS doesn't support credit points.
Processes to be considered are:

• Adoption of credit points from former learning activities into ILIAS
• (Automatic) assignment of credit points after achievement of a specific status
• Aggregation of credit points:
  • Over a specific period
  • Taking into account points from objects, e.g., courses the user attended
• Preview on credit points expected in the future from objects, e.g., courses:
  • Already booked
  • Pending (user waits for a superior to confirm his/her participation which might be denied)
  • Cancelled (user waits for a superior to confirm his/her caneccaltion which might be denied)
  • Waiting (user is on waiting list)

• Configuration of a planned amount of credit points to be achieved in a specific period,
  incl. notification of users (and possibly their superiors) if:
  • Too few points have been achieved in a specific period of the past.
  • Too few points will be achieved in a specific period of the future (according to what objects, e.g., courses are scheduled for a user).

3 Discussion

We had a workshop recently and have been discussing to implement a "CMS" - Credit Management System.
Some features we expect:

• The user may start with e.g. 100 Points
• If a learning module has been started or/and finished, credits will be added (to be defined in the module itself, as some modules may add more points as others).
• If a learning module has been started but not finished in a certain amount of time, points will be removed.
• If in a certain period no (specified) learning module has been started/finished, points will be removed.
• Some learning modules can only be started when a specified credit has been reached.
• At a certain amount, a (specified) Competence may be added to the user
• Additionaly to "Status Credits", "Reward Credits" can be added to the account, to e.g. get discount on the company web shop (rating 1:2 or such)
• Nice-2-have would be to name the Credits, e.g. "Lift Miles", as we're an Elevator Company ;)

For founding, it would be nice to get an estimation of the effort and on which version it could be implemented.
