Separate Preconditions for Registration/Participation in Courses/Groups

1 Requirements

In pure online courses, it doesn't matter whether a user who registered for course actually participates in the course activities (or, maybe, is only an observer or assistant).
In on-site courses, however, this distinction is crucial because:

  • Real-life resources have to be reserved and provided in a sufficient amount (rooms, accomodation, hand-outs, devices, food).
  • Real-life resources often have a certain amount of fixed costs, so for reasons of profitability, courses might have to be cancelled if too few (paying) participants are scheduled.
So, while current ILIAS only offers to configure preconditions for registration to courses, blended learning scenarios would benefit from separate preconditions for participation:
Only members complying with those preconditions for participation will be included into the list of participants which is the working basis of those who organize the actual on-site event.
