Mark postings automatically as read

1 Requirements

I suggest that a forum posting should be marked as "read" automatically, as soon as the user has opened it. In the current release, the user must explicitly click "Mark All as Read", otherwise the posting will continue to appear as "unread".

Matthias Kunkel, 06 Jun 2013: What will happen if there are several postings on one thread page and the use hasn't been on this page yet? Will ILIAS mark all postings "read" at once? Even if the user leaves the page after some seconds? If we mark all postings as read when a thread has been visited ILIAS does not make a true statement.
 
Maybe it is better to change the entire behaviour and to use only "New" for all postings in a thread after it's last visit. This is a "true" statement as we know when a user has visited a thread and which postings have been added after this event. But we should not display this "new" tag when the posting is older than 14 days.

JF 8 Jul 2013: We are reluctant to change this behaviour now, especially if it is like this since several major releases. The forum maintainer does not participate in the meeting today. We will contact Nadia and Michael and ask them for their opinion. They may re-schedule the topic. Currently we do not schedule the feature for a release.

MJ 08 Jul 2013: I do not support the idea to handle the posting as read implicitly. In my optionion opening a thread/topic for viewing does not automatically include that a user has read every single posting.
