Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is one of the largest universities in Germany. With its five faculties, FAU offers an almost unique scope of subjects ranging from the Humanities to Law and Economics as well as Sciences, Medicine and Engineering.

The E-Learning service FAU-StudiumOnline and its ILIAS plattform StudOn were established in 2007. The platform now has approximately 43.000 registered users.

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is institutional member of the ILIAS open source e-Learning e.V.
