Last releases:
- ILIAS 4.3.1 published at 14 January 2013
- ILIAS 4.2.7 published at 03 January 2013
- ILIAS 4.1.10 published at 03 February 2013 (maintenance ended)
- 4.3.2 is scheduled for 21 February 2013
- 4.2.8 is scheduled for March 2013
- #10410 - Course Notifications and/or News: We should improve the naming of the features.
- Membership screen: To the header "Benachrichtigungen" "(Über neue Mitglieder)" after a line break should be added.
- Settings screen: "Mail-Benachrichtigung aktivieren" should be changed to "Begrüßungsmail für neue Mitglieder"
- #10583 - PD waits for Skype: We will abandon the status determination logic from the IM fields, since the whole implementation is out-dated and not well maintained.
- #10591 - Sorting by "Mark" fails: Please do not put mantis bugs on the JF agenda without stating the conceptual issue that should be discussed.
- #10592 - Test participants ordering by last access is broken: Please do not put mantis bugs on the JF agenda without stating the conceptual issue that should be discussed.
- #10541 - Brotkrumenleiste vollständig bis zum Magazin hilfreich: We continue the discussion on this feature wiki page: Explorer/Locator Guideline
- 10602 - Group calendar vanished: Stefan will check the existing update step and fix it if necessary (activate all calendars). This will not affect installations that already moved to 4.3.0 or 4.3.1.
3 Feature Requests for ILIAS 4.4
3.1 Funded Features
- Design for the Maintenance Page: We agree that this page should be improved and postpone the discussion to a JF where Jean-Luc participates.
- Survey Participation Reminder and Tutor Notification: We appreciate the feature and schedule it for 4.4. The first option should be called "Remind Users to Participate". The feature should also work for "upper" groups and the "All members of parent course/group". @Jörg: Please keep in mind that the implementation of the first setting (cron job) must iterate over the ref ids.
- Improvement of Mail-Domain Filter for Self-Registration: We appreciate this extension and schedule it for 4.4. The info text of the options should include a more complex example.
- Improved flexibility for Key-based Registration: We appreciate the idea and agree that fixed and relative dates make both sense. We must clarify the dependency to the "Administration > New Registration > Registration Setting > Access Limitation" feature (which lists only roles selectable on the registration screen). Our current preference is that the code account limitation overwrites the role based account limitation. This must be stated in a hint on the code screen. We schedule this feature for 4.4.
- Show Learning Progress Status in Repository: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.4.
- Learning Progress for LM Chapters: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.4. If this is implemented a few other features should be streamlined:
- A new lp mode "Typical Learning Time (by Chapter)"
- The implementation should be streamlined with the SCORM "per SCO" selection where possible.
- If the learning progress is activated a new tab in the presentation view "learning progress" should be offered that shows the current status
- and allows the user to set it (if possible). (from the info page)
- The lp data should be used to "replace" the access statistics screen.
3.2 Funding Required / Unclear
- Selecting recipients for group and course mails: We appreciate the feature. If implemented this should be streamlined with the possibility to list groups/courses in the mail system itself. In both locations it should be easily possible to send mails to
- All members
- Selected roles
- Selected members of one (group/course) or multiple (mail system) groups or courses. We envisage to use an accordion for theses three options (creation-screen-like).
- Showing Calendar in Portfolio: We need to clarify the requirements related to the presentation of these different calendars in the portfolio(event list, month overview, ...). @Timo, Klaus: Could you try to provide some mock-up screens and mahara screenshots? How much functionality needs to be available? We need to take into consideration that portfolios always need a sound export to (static) HTML in the exercise scenario as well.
- Different test parts for randomized tests: concept and a possible implementation should be first discussed with our test&assessment maintainer Björn Heyser, bheyser (at) databay.de.
3.3 Postponed to Next Jour Fixe
There was not enough time to discuss the following suggestions. They are now on the agenda of the next Jour Fixe.

- Role-based Activation of Portfolio
- Export and Import of Portfolios
- Usability Improvements of Assignments and Grading Screens in Exercises

4 Miscellaneous
General PHP Support:
- Because the development of PHP version 5.2 came to an end (the 5.2.17 release marks the end of support for PHP 5.2) and is no longer supported, we will stop the support of this version with the next ILIAS major release 4.4. New minimum PHP version will then be 5.3.x. Nevertheless we recommend all users to upgrade to PHP 5.3 already now.
Next Jour Fixe:
- Monday, 04 March 2013, 09 a.m. at the ILIAS open source e-Learning office in Cologne.
