Internal Link Wiki Page

1 Requirements

Up to now it is not possible to use internal links (iln) to link to a wiki page. Wiki links are not using a unique ID but the page title. This concept has two problems that could be solved by implementing internal links for wiki pages too (and in addition):
  1. The wiki page link is also used for sending notification mails about changed pages. But if a user tries to open this link and the page has been renamed in between, the user cannot be directed to this page anymore but is send to the start page of the wiki (nor really a disaster but not satisfying).
  2. If I want to link to a specific wiki page from within ILIAS I can only use external links (xln) which open always a new window - and do not work also more, when page is renamed.
Suggestion: An additional internal link is introduced for wiki pages which allows always to address this page even if the page title is changed sometimes. Such a ID based link should be used for all notifications but also for internal linking. Within a wiki the current wiki link type stays the main choice for linking but outside a wiki it should be the internal link.

4 Discussion

JF 17 Sep 2012: We appreciate this idea and schedule it for 4.4.

Mirco Hilbert 25 Oct 2012: One related problem is when you use an Image Map as a content of a Wiki page. If you want to link from an image area to an other Wiki page, it is not possible to use an internal link, but you have to use an external link with the side effects decribed in requirement 2.

André Mersch October 15th 2013: The fpllowing problem seems also to berelated: When using german umlauts in the titel of a wiki page the permanent link of this page does not link to the page but to the starting page of the wiki.

Matthias Kunkel, 04 Nov 2013: Postponed and unscheduled due to missing funding. Please add on the JF agenda again when funding is available.

Alex Killing 11 Feb 2014: I just realised that the status of this page has not been set correctly. My fault, my apoligies. This feature has been funded by FH Dortmund and been published with ILIAS 4.4.0.

Matthias Kunkel, 13 April 2014: Please provide some basic information about the implementation of this feature. It looks as if 4.4 is not using the page ID for e-mail notifications about changes on wiki pages. Additionally, I am not able to link to a wiki page of another wiki by using the internal link service.
