Separate tracking of user access from content changes

1 Description

With the current tracking concept you have to activate "Changes in the repository" for a course admin to quickly see the usage of her content, i.e., the "Number of non-anonymous read accesses" and "Read by number of distinct ILIAS users" on the info tab of an object ("Additional Information"). However the option to track changes in the repository is not semantically linked to the tracking of object usage. The tracking of changes is also a bit needless as long as the user can't see what the changes actually are. It just turns the whole repository red and bloats the list with no added value. I would like to turn that option off, but then all course admins lose the tracking of read access of their content (see also "Keine Anzeige von Zugriffszahlen und Nutzern im Register Info der Objekte").

I therefore suggest to separate the two things: There should be one option to turn on the tracking of changes in the repository and another one to track the number of read access to appear on the info tab.

Marko Glaubitz, 20.02.2015: We are stadning in fornt of the same problem. We have deactivated the "Chnages in th respository" but would be glad to still have the anonymized usage data that was made available as a side effect by this feature.

Matthias Kunkel, April 08, 2015: there is a similar request called Separating Changed Inside and Number of Read Accesses.

Feature request has been implemented with 5.2, see Abandon ‘Changed Inside’.
