Last releases:
- ILIAS 4.2.0 published at 04 October 2011
- ILIAS 4.1.7 published at 18 July 2011
- ILIAS 4.0.11 published at 04 January 2011
Next releases:

- 4.0.12 is scheduled for 28 October 2011. Maintenance of 4.0 will end with this final release.
We went through Mantis and had a overlook about all open issues. All issues were screened and assigned to the responsible developers. The following bug reports were discussed more in detail:
- Mantis 7937 - confirmation not necessary when moving topic: We updated the confirmation guideline accordingly (Confirmation Screen Guideline) and scheduled the implementation of this guideline for 4.3.
- Emphasized Buttons for Primary Action: We highly appreciate this improvements. They could be realised as usability fix for 4.2.
- Mantis 7927: We decided to abandon the feature "Special Users" (that allows to run a survey more then once), since we now have a working "Preview" function in surveys for authors who wants to have a look on a survey before publishing it. If there are reasons to keep this feature, please contact the core team.
- Availablity of the internal „Actions“ menu in ILIAS object types: We agree with this suggestion. This should already be available with 4.2.
- Send and Save-Buttons in Mail - Wording: We agree and would like to implement this as usability bug fix for 4.2. We suggest to use:
- Send Message" and "Save as Draft" in English
- "Nachricht versenden" and "Als Entwurf speichern" in German
4 Feature wiki topics for 4.3
- Survey evaluation information from a SCORM 2004 survey: Unfortunately to our knowledge SCORM does not include any survey functionality related standardization. So SCORM is not suitable for this and it is not possible to support this in a non-proprietary way.
- SOAP upload for User exercise solution: What is the general user scenario behind this functionality? Currently we do not see a need to support learner related workflows through the SOAP interface. The SOAP interface is primary adressing administrative tasks.
- Updating Learning Module Content Per Import: We highly appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.3 (funding required).
- Back Button On All Pages: It is unclear to us, how the exact behaviour of this button should be. E.g. the behaviour of (a) last visited (only single repository ressources are stored), (b) browser back button (going back to the last visited screen) or (c) former "Up" button in ILIAS (jumped to the next parent context e.g. category, course, folder) of the current ressource) is very different. The requirement needs to be clarified. Currently we do not see the need to add such an additional user interface element.
- One-click-rights-settings for the folders in a group (download/upload): Most of it could be possible with the didactic templates of ILIAS 4.2.
- Forms: Input Validation Warning Messages: We like the idea, but would prefer a more condensed presentation:
- Some data is incomplete or not valid. Please correct the input of these fields: Ressource, Title, ... (each field name should be linked to the corresponding input field)
- file upload: disable automatic news entry: It would be important for us to understand the reason behind this requirement. Currently we do not see a reason to add complexity to the upload form, since the result (having some extra news entries) is not that problematic.
- Remove from Desktop for Multiple Objects: We appreciate the general idea and prefer a "checkbox solution" for 4.3.
- Sorting in Survey Statistics: We appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.3.
- Special Characters for creating Questions an absolving tests: We do not fully understand how this feature works or is supposed to work. Could you upload some screenshots?
- Auto Save for Test Results: We agree that this feature could be useful, but have concerns with respect to its implementation. Please contact the module maintainer Jan Posselt of Databay, whether he supports the idea and could help with its integration.
- Introducing Data Collection: We highly appreciate this idea. We must not forget to support the "plugin" ID creation at the same time.
- Option to Obligate Test Questions: We currently do not support the approach as being described here:
- It adds a lot of complexity to the T&A system.
- It is hard to understand for learners.
- Learners that understand the need to answer the required questions will just "rush" through them at the end of the test to ensure that their test is scored. Which is quite a useless behaviour.
- Member List - Print: We appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.3.
- Booking Notice for Consultation Hours: We appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.3.
- New type Multiple Choice K/Kprim:There are two aspects in this requirement:
- Presentation: The presentation of the answer screen using radio boxes instead of checkbox, could be just an option in the existing multiple choice question type. The table columns should not use +/- but richtig/falsch.
- Scoring: Is the new way of editing the scoring really necessary? If so, it could also be an option in the existing question type "multiple choice" to use the the "traditional" ILIAS way to calculate (and editing) the scoring or this new approach.
- Sessions in Groups: We appreciate this feature and schedule it for 4.3.
- Improvement of Data Table Layout: We highly appreciate the idea to improve the table presentation. We have to work this out in detail for 4.3.
