Preview of forum postings

1 Description

It would be nice to have a preview of a posting before sending it. We have users that rely heavily on the tex-environment and with complex formulas not everything turns out presentable on the first try. Yes, you can always edit a "broken" posting afterwards. But if notifications for new postings are sent - either as built-in notifications or as rss-feed - they will contain the first, broken posting anyway.

It would also be nice if the preview stayed on top with the text field underneath so the users can see where to edit the errors. Like on the following screenshot for example (or in any other current board software): Preview posting.

Fred Neumann: we have the same request from the department of electric engineering at out university. I think it will not be complicate to realise it and volunteer for an implementation in 4.4.

JF 11 June 2012: We appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.4. Please get in contact with the maintainers of the forum at Databay AG.

Sascha Kaiser, FH Bielefeld: We have the same request here.

Matthias Kunkel: Due to missing funding, this feature could not be implemented for 4.4. Status is set back to "not scheduled yet".

Michael Jansen, 04 Apr 2014: I support this request.

@Fred: If you volunteer for the implementation (e.g. because you already implemented this for your institution or you have a concrete idea/conception) feel free to do this :-). Please be aware that it will be your responsibility to fix the bugs for this feature.

JF 28 Apr 2014: We still suppport the idea and schedule it for 4.5.
