All Drop-Box User does have one important functionality ILIAS-MyWorkspace should also have: Create public link (see feature in Dropbox)

A user should have the possibility to add "Public links" to every document in the MyWorkspace (tab Share).

Example: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2196722/ILIAS-Broschure.pdf ((does not work)).

With this, the users can publish/mail (large) documents to external persons easily.

Jour Fixe, 18 July 2011:

• We are not sure if we understand your suggestion in the right way. With 4.2 all objects in "My Workspace" will have a permanent link and can be shared as "Public" (offering a link that can be used by anyone) or "Public with password" (with additional password). You can use this permanent link to share a file with other users outside ILIAS.

HL (18.7.11): OK, I see now, I must use the drop-field: "Publish (password required)" ---> not "Public (password required)"

I see this is still in development.

• Users do not know that they must click the tab "Info" if they want to see which link they must use. Maybe they should be able to copy the link in the share-tab?
• I personnally think this feature should be possible without using password - like in Drop-Box with a public link.
