Revision of Add to Desktop Feature

1 Description

There are two very similar functionalities in ILIAS:

• Add to desktop
• Add to (ILIAS) bookmarks

One is available on the parent level of an item, the second feature is available near the permanent link within the item presentation.

We suggest to:

• Add a "Favorites" folder to the bookmarks.
• "Move" all items that are "added to the desktop" into this folder.
• Always offer a folder selection in a second step

Open issues

• Do not use the "selected items" as the source for the news
• Should (bookmarks) folders be made available on the overview screen, too?
• Should the "add to desktop" feature in roles be handled differently (e.g. a separate folder for "suggested" items?)

• Scheduled for: not scheduled yet (has been scheduled for v. 4.3 but postponed due to missing funding)
