Hide username
1 Description
At some institutions the username is the loginname for several IT services as well as the main ID for presenting marks and test results. From the privacy point of view there is a need to hide or camouflage the username - especially in modules where it is not really needed, like forum and wiki (where also the real name is shown and used to identify a posting).
Suggestion: offering a general (system) and individual (desktop) setting to hide the username in
- wiki entries
- forum postings
- ???

JF 28 Mar 2011. There are several other features that would be affected, if this should be implemented consistently: "Who is online", mail, user search, groups, course, profiles, chat, learning modules, ... And what should be displayed, if users did not provide their first/last name or didn't activate their public profile.
We currently think that it is very unlikely that such a feature will make it to the ILIAS core, since the costs to work out the concept and implement it will be too high.
