Short description | | Jephte and Richard will present the current state of an implementation of webservices for ILIAS based on the abstraction of Activities.
Activities are supposed to add a new layer to ILIAS that presents things a user might want to do with the system in a documented and principled way. This framework can be used for ILIAS GUIs, documentation and by other subsystems alike. It will add a long missing piece to the way we understand and implement our system. Richard presents the current iteration for an implementation of this framework that will soon be up for decision by the Jour Fixe.
Powerful and modern webservices have been missing from the system for a long time too. They will be the first user of the Activities framework. By implementing webservices via Activities, every component and plugin can provide new Activities that will seamlessly be available via the new webservice implementation. Jephte presents the current and workable prototype to show how this could drastically improve the possibilities to integrate ILIAS with other systems.
The presentation will end with an outlook regarding the next steps in the implementation of these two components and how you can help to make these prototypes come into effect with ILIAS 11. |
