More Visual design for container objects

1 Requirements

Current situation:
ILIAS emphazises on text rather graphics when displaying the repository.
It is already possible to upload custom icons (large / medium / small).

Change Request:
The main idea is to change the visual appearance of container objects (or alternatively even all repository-objects) to emphasize more on graphics.

The result could be similar to the list of courses found here:
https://iversity.org/courses

I suggests to restrict this idea to container-objects first and then later maybe extend it to other objects to.
The upload of custom icons should the be extended to include "tiles" in at least one fixed size.
The new implementation should behave "responsive" right from the start.

3 Discussion

Alex Killing 25 Apr 2014: I support this idea and would it prefer to merge this page with the existing Improving ListGUI page. The resulting page would be a subtopic of the Design Revision page.

JF 12 May 2014: We appreciate this idea in general and schedule it for 4.5. BUT, further decision will only be made on the base of design mock-ups/proposals. We discussed that this feature should be available for multiple types, especially courses, categories, learning modules. Maybe for all types in the future. We think we could end up with two types of object list presentations (simple and extended), which would be activated per list block within a container.

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 03 AUG 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
