Installation and Maintenance
Install ILIAS: Client creation
The steps to create a client require you to provide access to the database service, some contact data and proxy-settings if your system needs a proxy to access internet data.
For the database configuration you can either give ILIAS the credentials of a database admin user and let ILIAS create its own database or use a pre-created database as describes in the database installation chapter.
If you want to use multiple clients with one ILIAS installation, you can create further clients from the "Basic Settings" tab of the setup. The steps to configure a client dont differ from the procedure used to create the first client.
The client has to know which database engine to access, so this is chosen in the first step:
The next step configures the client name and database access settings. You have to provide your settings used in the "database" chapter for a successful installation, the screenshot below shows only dummy values
If needed, ILIAS setup creates a new database and the required tables for this client. To create the database, the database engine root credentilas have to be supplied.
Don't forget to set the "ceate database" checkbox, if you didn't pre-create the database.
Click "Install Database" to start thos process.
Usually, the database installed from the setup files need updates and/or hotfixes, so take the time to do so.
This will happen again after updates of the ILIAS code.
After this your client setup is almost finished. The final steps are teh configuration of proxy settings and the optional client registration
