In the README File, it says:Version 1.x of the ILIAS plugin allows to import questions created with the original moodle version of STACK and use then in ILIAS tests.

Are you planing in Future Releases to support creating Stack questions in ILIAS?

yes, the crowdfunding for version 2 of the plugin is now complete. It will be developed for ILIAS 5 and higher, including the core of STACK 3.3. And it will have an editor for STACK questions in ILIAS.We plan to publish it at the end of this year when the stable version of ILIAS 5 is ready.

version 1.9 of the assCasQuestion plugin for ILIAS 4.4.x is now available on the SVN server:

It comes with the following improvements:

• STACK core classes have been updated to the last 3.3 version.
• Server mode for maxima connection is now available; creating a maxima pool server (see https://github.com/maths/stack_util_maximapool) and set the connection type in server mode highly improves the performance of the system.
• Instant validation is now available when in server mode. By checking the instant validation in the configuration of the plugin, all the questions of the platform will use the instant validation system which avoids clicking to validate an answer, the answer will be validated automatically two seconds after finish write in the input field. This option is available for algebraic input only.
• Preview of questions with deployed seeds now show a fixed version of the question using always the same seed if it has been fixed. To fix a seed to a preview go to the Seed label and click on see preview in the selected seed. This choice works during the session of the user.

The following errors in Mantis have been solved:

• Inverse trigonometric functions aren’t displayed as set in the settings. http://www.ilias.de/mantis/view.php?id=14198

Other issues have been solved as problems when importing question pools or test, also copying or moving the questions to other question pool.

i would like to know if its possible to create random Stack questions within Ilias 5.x with Stack 2: like creating the same Question with only different numbers.

As far as i know this isnt possible with the ilias 4 and stack 1 combination.

Sorry, I've overseen your question during my parential holidays.

To get a good peformance it is necessary to run Maxima in a thread pool. For each evaluation of a question maxima is called multiple times. If the server needs to start a new maxima process every time, this will sum up to a considerable request time.

Hallo Ralf,

ich hab Dir unsere maximapool.conf angehängt. Dort ist file.handling = true. Wichtig scheinen mir noch die folgenden Einstellungen:

maxima.load = /srv/www/vhosts/stack/iliasdata/webdata/Stack5/xqcas/stack/maximalocal.mac
maxima.cwd = /srv/www/vhosts/stack/iliasdata/webdata/Stack5/xqcas/stack/tmp

Bei uns läuft der Maximapool auf demselben Server wie ILIAS. Wenn er woanders läuft, muss man die maximalocal.mac dorthin kopieren und ein dort vorhandenes tmp angeben.

Außerdem musste ich die folgende Einstellung anfassen:

maxima.ready.for.use = STACK-Maxima started

Wenn dieser Erkennungsstring falsch geschrieben ist, weiss der Pool nicht, wann er sein Auswertungs-Kommando schicken darf. Welchen String Maxima liefert, bekommt man heraus, wenn man den Pool übers Web aufruft, und dort Run the low-level health-check anklickt.

Mit den in der Konfiguration angegebenen Pool-Parametern läuft er seit Monaten stabil. In der tomcat.conf haben wir noch den Speicher angepasst:

JAVA_OPTS="-Xms400m -Xmx400m"

Dafür zeigt mir die Statusanzeige des Pools beim Aufruf übers Web:

Java free memory:134,7 MB out of 398,0 MB total memory (398,0 MB max limit)

Ich hoffe, die Infos helfen Dir weiter.

es geht weiter->zur Info, rufe ich auf dem Server alles über curl auf curl http://localhost:8080...usw kommt aussagekräftige antwort

aufgefallen ist mir in der  classes/stack/cas/installhelper.class.php

zeile 63
    $this->logpath = stack_utils::convert_slash_paths($CFG->dataroot . '/stack/log');

dann wird die maximalocal.mac  dort hingeschrieben...

is das so in Ordnung?

 weiter gehts,
folgende Beoabachtungen gemacht:
Maximpool läuft tadellos mit tomcat über die Benutzeroberflache von Tomcat und mit Curl auf Konsole
in ILIAS findet das script ersteinmal die maximalocal.mac nicht im data/xqas/stack/  directory, obwohl die immer neu geschrieben wird , bei jedem cache leeren oder Server einrichten.
Wenn ich den Healtcheck  in Ilias aufrufe , habe ich nun herausgefunden:
es wird vom Tomcat brav ein Verzeichniss (im Tomcat Verzeichniss) temp angelegt zb. mp-398283905647191573-394809520 in denen dann ein jeweils ein output  work Verzeichniss liegen
die aber leer sind...

wenn ich auf dem server ein updatedb mache , finde ich  die maximalocal.mac die im ILIAS/data verzeichniss liegt nicht

ich habe hier als apache user nobody und nogroup , weiss nicht ob es daran liegt, ich suche aber als root, der darf das -oder?
ich vermute hier ganz stark irgendwelche rechte Probleme, weiss jemand Rat?

Hallo Ralf-Peter,

momentan kann ich dazur nur sagen, dass der Funktionstest mit einer MaximaPook-Konfiguration auch bei uns Fehler zur maximalical.mac bringt. Das scheint ein Bug im Funktionstest zu sein. Der Aufruf des Pools und auch die Fragen funktionieren aber trotzdem. Meines Wissens nach ist die maximalocal.mac für ILIAS auch nicht nötig. Sie wird nur vom MaximaPool gebraucht, und dort wir sie Deinem Screenshot nach auch geladen.

Übrigens braucht die Server-Verbindung auch die zip-Erweiterung von PHP, um Plot-Grafiken zu empfangen.

Ansonsten würde ich zum Debuggen einmal die Klasse stack/cas/connector.server.class.php und darun die Funktion call_maxoma() untersuchen.

Hurra,

es läuft nun local, habe alles nocheinmal neu heruntergeladen , die stack_utils_maximapool , vermute da hatte ich eine krude version ...

und dann ist mir noch aufgefallen, wenn in der maximapool.conf die Pfade zu den Verzeichnissen mit eine Space bzw Leerzeichen enden ...dann gibt es Fehler

nun will ich das ganze einmal outsourcen...da bin ich mal gespannt

Es funktioniert.
Aber die Installation ist nicht so trivial...
ich habe auf meinem Testsystem zuerst nur die gleichen Pfade wie auf dem Webserver mit dem ich den Tomcat auf Server extern ansprechen will übernommen und das plugin vom Webserver dorthin kopiert...das ging garnicht, da vermutlich die Pfade und das ganze Initalisieren von Stack nicht funktioniert...

** ohje, das muss ich nochmal revidieren, am Ende lag der Fehler nur an meiner mini Server Konfiguration-->
Da ist eindeutig ein einfacheres Verfahren nötig...oder ich weiss es nur nicht, wenn jemand Tipps hat, immer her damit, ich moechte das so im Feb. 016 am Start haben.-> Edit:werde ich dann nochmal ohne kplt. Installation testen

also bedeutete das-> eine komplette ILIAS Installation auf dem externen Server anzulegen, dort das Plugin zu installieren....dann die obligatorischen Tests gemacht (HealtCheck..ersteinmal mit local settings, das ging tadellos).

aber dann war die Tomcat und Stack_util_pool erzeugen ein Herausforderung, die ersten Versuche haben maxima processe ohne Ende aufgerufen, der Server ist bis Stillstand in Maxima Processe gelaufen... ( ok, klein ist eine Test VM ) haben mich fast zur Aufgabe gezwungen, bis ich in der maximapool.conf diese Parameter nach unten geschraubt habe :

nun ist es so, das der process maxima vom ILIAS Webserver auf dem entfernten(Tomcat7) Server aufgerufen wird,  dort rechnet, die Plots auf mir unbekannten wegen ;-) ,in das plot Verzeichniss auf dem Webserver schreibt.

Fazit: ich kann nun maxima,tomcat und bisschen java...

Hallo,

wir hatten den Maximapool schon mal am laufen, leider geht es nun nach einem Server Update nicht mehr richtig.

Wäre es möglich für den gesamten aublauf eine kurze Schritt für Schritt Anleitung einzustellen.

Die Anleitung "https://github.com/maths/stack_util_maximapool/blob/multiple-pools/doc/" weicht doch gerade im letzten Teil bei den Verzeichnissen dann von dem ab was für Ilias benötigt wird.

Ausserdem wollte ich noch nachfragen ob ich es richtig verstanden habe das auf dem Server auf dem  "stack_util_maximapool" laufen soll ein komplettes Ilias mit Stack Pluing benötigt wird?

Die Pfade müssen dann in das Ilias Stack Plugin Verzeichnis zeigen, sehe ich das richtig?

Bei unseren Tests haben wir es nur so zum laufen bekommen.

schon einige Zeit fertig ist aber.....

Es wird jeweils einzeln auf Tomcat, Stack-Pool, Ilias und einige Stolperstellen (eingegangen.

The new STACk version (2.3) is already in the Github (https://github.com/ilifau/assStackQuestion/). This version funded by Hochschule Karlsruhe includes a fully new feedback report system, that allows teachers to include the feedback report within the question text or under the question text exactly like in Moodle, by using placeholders (like input or validation placeholders) in the question text or in the specific feedback textarea in options. STACK plugin can also be used in ILIAS 5.1. There are some bug reports that have been solved (please check the readme file for more information) and other improvements in the question display. We hope you like the new version and please, if you find any bug, report it via Mantis bugtracker.  We are waiting for your feedback, tomorrow we will present this new version also in the SIG Mathe+ILIAS meeting in Bremen.

ich würde gern die statistischen Funktionen in Maximas `descriptive package` in STACK-Fragen verwenden.  Leider wird das Paket von Maxima nicht standardmäßig geladen.  Gibt es einen Ort, wo ich in solchen Fällen load-Direktiven ablegen kann?  Oder einen anderen empfohlenen Weg, um an die Funktionen aus dem Paket heranzukommen?

Ist es überhaupt vorgesehen, Maxima-Pakete nachzuladen?

Hi! 

Current STACK core version we use in ILIAS plugin (3.3) does not support maxima packages. Latest version of STACK Core (3.5.5) it does, but it also need some modifications of the core regarding statistic functions which are not allowed by default, and many of the graphic functions doesn't work because it would be a great effort to maintain all those graphical functions in STACK. 

In the future when we got funding to adapt ILIAS STACK plugin to STACK core 3.5.5, this functionality will be available, but also many of the graphical functionalities of this package will not work in STACK as in core version right now.

beim Versuch das assStackQuestion Plugin zu installieren tritt leider folgender Fehler auf:

Wenn ich die maxima.bat.in aus dem Archiv nehme und nach ../stack/maxima.bat kopiere verschwindet der Fehler. Jedoch ist diese Lösung nicht so elegant.

Zum System:

- Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS 64Bit

- Ilias v5.1.8 2016-08-03

- Maxima 5.31.3 (Installation per: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Maxima - Anleitung)

- assStackQuestion aus Git-Repo

Falls Jemand eine Lösung hat würde ich mich sehr freuen.

Die Fehlermeldung ist ein Bug im Plugin, den wir in der nächsten Version beheben. Wichtig sind aber beim Funktionstest die Zeilen darunter (Versuch zur Maxima-Verbindung). Wird dort der berechnete Ausdruck komplett angezeigt, ist alles in Ordnung.

Plugin configuration shows version "2.3.10"

Is this this newest stable Version?

On the plugin page I read it was 2.3.3

Isn’t 2.3.10 a higher version number than 2.3.3? To me it looks like you have the latest version and it’s just the plugin data collection that isn’t up-to-date.
