21st International ILIAS Conference in Bologna: Meet the ILIAS Community in Real Life

Diverse, innovative, secure - that's how e-learning works with ILIAS and that's also the motto of the 21st International ILIAS Conference, which will finally take place again as a live event next week after a two-year break from Corona.
This year we will meet in Bologna. There, ILIAS professionals will show in several workshops, tutorials and presentations how they implement complex learning scenarios and attractive learnings with on-board tools - and where they elegantly extend the platform with external solutions.
Not only commercial offers are presented at the conference. Many contributions are much more about using, adapting and improving ILIAS with one's own initiative and the desire to try things out. Because this is the central approach of open source: the users themselves can become the designers of their software.
Since this process is still unusual for some visitors to the conference, Richard Klees from the Technical Board of the ILIAS Society will show in his presentation how one can make important contributions to ILIAS development - even without programming knowledge.
One way to participate is to formulate new requirements. Proposals should not only be described in words, but preferably also be illustrated by graphics. Our Kitchen Sink - a collection of ILIAS user interface components - can be useful here. It helps with the conception of new developments and with the transfer of your own ideas into our Feature Wiki. Yvonne Seiler and Enrico Zenzen will explain exactly how this works in a separate workshop in Bologna.
In their tutorial, Monika Joussen and Britta Mertens show what can be done in practice with the new page editor and some adjustments to the content styles. They go into detail about the different process stages of page design and explain the most important "Dos & Don'ts".
But of course ILIAS offers even more possibilities for participation. For example, in the area of accessibility and language, as Kendra Grotz and Wolfgang Schmidt-Sielex show in their contributions.
The topics presented here are only examples of the breadth of the conference - and of the creativity of the ILIAS community. The last tickets for the conference are still available here. We look forward to meeting you in Bologna!
