Using New Features
Adopt Permissions
If you want to use some of the new object types and you update an existing installation to 4.3 it is necessary to modify the exisiting roles and role templates of your installation for allowing your users to create and use these object types. At least you should give visible and read permission for the preferred objects to the global roles and the role templates.
New permission settings exists for the following object types:Polls and item groups have no visible permission as they are displayed within container pages and do not appear in object lists.
Important Administration Settings
- Imprint: You can add an imprint page in
Administration » General Settings » Imprintfor displaying all necessary information about your installation and who publishs it under which conditions. A link will be displayed in the footer of each page ef an imprint exists. - Contact Administration: The link in the footer of each ILIAS page is now using the address defined as Feedback Recipient in
Administration » General Settings » Contact Information. Please add the appropriate e-mail address if another user than the system administrator of your installation should receive user feedback mails.
Skin Changes Through CSS Revision
If you are using a customised skin on your ILIAS installation you need to adopt it to the changes made in the CSS and templates before you update to 4.3. Due the introduction of responsive design layout tables and inline styles have been removed. Style information that was defined in templates before is now part of the css file and has to modified there.
Since 4.3 ILIAS is using PNG instead of GIF for all default icons in the skin. If you have created your own icons for objects or other skin elements in .gif format you need to transform them to .png.
Abandoned Features
These features have been abondoned and are no longer available in ILIAS 4.3:
- Digilib Book support
- ERP payment method
- Feedback feature in courses
- Integrated iLinc support - replaced by a plugin
- Internet Explorer 7 support
