    No Download of .exe Files possible

    Hi everybody,

    we are facing the problem that since updating from 5.2.12 to 5.3.1, no files with the file extension " .exe " can be downloaded. This occurs on all our ILIAS Servers (Linux and Winodws) with 5.3.1

    We have not testen any other executable files, yet.

    Non executable files like pdf, doc, jpg, etc still work fine.

    We do not have this problem on servers still running 5.2.12.

    The servers with that problemg are in totally different networks (intranet and web), so this should not be a problem caused by sophos, etc.

    Anybody facing the same Problem?

    Anybody any Idea?

    Are there new security-settings in ILIAS 5.3.x?

    I remember security-restrictions by upload (Privacy and Security > Security >Files), but not by download.

    Hi Alix Mela,

    Not as far as I can see.

    There are still just the upload restrictions, like you already mentioned before.

    Do you face the same problem?

    We still are on 5.2.9 and can download .exe-files, but on the official testing installation of ILIAS e.V. (https://www.ilias.de/test53) I get the following screen after clicking on the uploaded file. Try a bug report. If it is any security issue ILIAS should tell.

    OK, so it seems to be a bug.

    I will report it on Mantis.

    After updating, you now will get a "file not supported" message after uploading a execudable file like *.exe or *.msi.

    So I guess providing these filetypse through ILIAS will make you to zip them before.

    I will now have to inform the tutors about this and hope I will not forget to mention this on the next trainings ;)

    mts File too!
    i get the same error on mts files now. why is mts a problem?
    why i cant edit the not supported file-types?
    why i get the error but the database entry for the file will be writen?
