Improving ILIAS Calendar

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel] - 29. May 2014, 10:15

The calendar is the general tool for organising dates and schedules in ILIAS and offers already a lot of helpful functions. It is available in groups, courses and on the personal desktop. Single events as well as recurrent appointments are supported. Thanks to calendar, tutors can offer consultation hours in their courses and milestones can be set in working team. Nevertheless, some usability improvements and new technical concepts are necessary to make it a nice-to-use feature in ILIAS. This is why the ILIAS society has started a crowdfuning initiative for getting sufficient funding for a calendar revision.

The main working packages for a revision of the calendar are:
  • Adding, moving and extending appointments by using drag&drop
  • Instantly showing / hiding events of selected calendars
  • Improved calendar navigation in side block
  • Streamlining of date and time picker
The necessary budget for this implementation is around 22.000 €. Contributions of any amount are highly appreciated. Please contact Matthias Kunkel for addtional information. The calendar revision has been scheduled for ILIAS version 4.5.
