  • Description*:
    • Purpose: The Back/Next Glyph indicates a possible change of the view.
    • Composition: If some new aspect or action of the current object is to be displayed, the chevron-right is used. If the view change leads back to some previous view, the chevron-left is used.
    • Effect: The click on a Back/Next opens a new view of an object or leads back to a previous one.
    • Rival Elements:
      1. Caret:  The Caret handles opening and closing hidden aspects of a view such as a Dropdown or content of an Accordion.

  • Context*: “Show Member View” in courses.
  • Rules:
    • Style:
      1. If clicking on the Back/Next opens a new view of an object, the version pointing to the right of the Glyph MUST be used.
      2. If clicking on the Back/Next opens a previous view, the version pointing to the left of the Glyph MUST be used.
    • Usage:
      1. Back and Next Buttons MUST be accompanied by the respective Back/Next Glyph.
