Language Instructions
Import
On the import screen you can import an external language file into your installation:
The language file entries will be imported as local changes of the chosen language. Additionally you can decide, how the existing language entries in the database should be handled:
"Keep all existing entries" will only add newly defined entries, but will keep all existing default or locally changed entries, even if they are defined in the imported language file. This can be used to include new definitions from an additional module or patch.
"Keep all local changes" will add new entries and overwrite the default entries but will keep all previously done online changes, even if they are defined in the imported language file. This can be used to merge partial translations or customizations into an installation, if you trust more on your own changes than on the imported ones.
"Replace existing entries" will overwrite all language entries in the database with the new values of the imported language file but will leave all other entries untouched. This can be used to revert to a former backup of the local changes or to merge an external customisation if you think it is better than your own changes.
"Delete existing entries" will delete all entries of the language in the database before the language file is imported. After the import only the entries of the imported file are in the database. This can be used to clean up additional entries that were added for development or experimental purposes.
