Post-Installation checks
After the installation (or update) of ILIAS, take some time to review the system settings. Not all features are activated automatically after the installation. Change settings according to your needs and document these for later referral. A selected list of interesting settings in the administration follows here:
- webdav and filemanager can be activated in Files and Folders
- Milestones and Mail-Notifications can be activated in Calendar
- A prefix for mail- forwardings can be added in Mail Settings
- Privacy Settings should be reviewed, specially about anonymous actions of users
- Snippets maus be activated in Media Objects
- RSS Feeds on the desktop can be allowed up to a fixed number
- Desktops can contain chatviewers, maps etc
- Extended Userprofiles can be activated in User Accounts
- Common Administrative Settings contain many basic settings. Review all (specially public access, preview as member) and set the installation name
- The login page can be customized in Authentication
- Editor settings include activatin of the TinyMCE editor and the tags available in different editable pages
- Groups can have individual icons if wished
- Personal workspace, use of portfolios and competency management requiere some configurations before use
