5.2.0 Beta3
This is a beta release of the upcoming 5.2 release. Please do not use it for productive purposes but just for evaluation. A first stable release 5.2.0 is scheduled for mid-December 2016.

Instructions for updating ILIAS can be found in section 3 of the general installation instructions. For major updates (e.g. 4.4.x -> 5.0.x) the safest proceeding is, to upgrade a copy of your productive system first and test whether everything works ok. Updating to ILIAS 5.2 requires an installation based on ILIAS 4.4 or higher. Straight update from 4.3 to 5.2 will not be supported. For installations using 4.3 or lower it is necessary to update first to 4.4, 5.0 or 5.1 before finally updating to 5.2. When updating from 4.4 or 5.0 to 5.2, this has to be done on a PHP 5.5 system first before updating the server to PHP 7. If you use a customized skin/style, please change the skin settings for root user and default of installation to ‘delos‘ before upgrading from a 4.x version to 5.2.x. Otherwise you may not login any more due to templates changes in former versions.
